Camping Highlights!

We went camping out at Lake Arcadia last night.  It was Stone's first time to sleep in the tent and he loved it!  Here are some of the highlights from our time out there... there are no pictures from today since we packed up during the rain sprinkle!

Our campsite was right on the lake; so we headed down for a little fishing and rock throwing.
Stone finally warmed up to the idea of warms and took a great interest in them that eventually lead to him even helding one!
Lj was right in his element; FISHING!
My sweet boy and I!
Mitzi even loved being outside and digging in the dirt!
(She has been a bit spoiled this break!)
A little kickball action before dinner.  We got to use the Spiderman ball Stone went forging for our first day out fishing!
Daddy and Stone getting ready to grill, chicken and kaBOBs!  We had some special guests coming for dinner!
Holly and her new beau, Bob.
S'mores... The one and only camping dessert!

Zoo Fun with Natalie

Lj had to work on Thursday so we called Natalie and Rachel and headed to the zoo.  We have never been to the zoo with Natalie so it was an extra special treat!   We even got to make a sand necklace, ride the carousal and trudge through the zoo with thousands of other people.  The day started off cool but warmed up quickly; Stone went from long sleeves and a fleece to sleeveless in 2 hours!

I was surprised that Stone actually posed for the picture... he has been a bit resistant to having his picture taken.
Enjoying the ride on the carousal.  I love having a pass... usually I only spend about  $1.00 each time we go and that is to do something FUN!!
Enjoying the turtles!
We saw the zoo at break-neck speed just so we could get back to the playground... the trip was for the kiddos after all!!
My favorite picture...
Stone and Natalie are such good friends and really get along well!

Fun on Route 66

The weather was beautiful once again, so we decided to head to the park to enjoy a picnic.  I had seen pictures of the Route 66 park so I thought it would be fun to check it out.   Stone always has more fun when a friend joins us so we called the Chan's; Charity and the kiddos joined us while Mark studied.  Stone was so excited to see Freedom since it had been a little while since they got to play.  The park was a bit far and a little obsure to find but all was good when we finally all got there.  The boys had so much fun playing on the equipment, eating lunch, walking around the pond and feeding the ducks!
Lj suggested that I rate all the parks in the area.  So, I think this spring and summer it will be Stone and my goal to check out all the OKC and Edmond parks and rate them.  Be watching for that in the future!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Stone and a little clover we found at the park... Yes, he is wearing GREEN!

Fished all day but caught no Fishes!

Yesterday, we took Stone fishing for the first time.  He was so excited to go and catch a fish, unfortunately, none of us caught a fish.  We did get to enjoy the beauty of Lake Arcadia and hear the fish jumping but Stone really did not have the patience nor desire to sit and wait for a fish to bite.   We did have one little accident where Stone got the hook stuck in his chin... but Daddy to the rescue and no real damage done!

Stone and Daddy casting into the water!

International Fun

On Wednesday, Stone and I headed to UCO's International Food Festival with Reiko and Hitomi.  We enjoyed tasting some of the different ethnic foods and seeing traditional dress from the various countries. Our favorite food was the Korean bulgogi and noodles along with rice and the European dessert, baklava.

Stone enjoying the bulgogi- Yummy!
Stone with the crazy girls; Reiko and Hitomi!
The whole reason I wanted to go was to hear and watch Hiroka play the Taiko Drums.  Before the concert began Stone got to see the drums up close... they are huge and so well made.
The concert was great... so neat to watch.
Stone was enthralled by it all... this is how he stayed the whole time they were playing!
The Taiko Drummers!

Prison Break

After school on Tuesday Stone asked if we could go to the Children's Museum in Edmond.  But of course, we must always bring a friend along so we asked Natalie to join us.  Natalie goes to Sonshine School with Stone.  They have tons of fun running around and playing with together. Natalie is such a sweet little girl!

Stone and Natalie in the Edmond jail... they were lovin' the fact they could escape so easily!
Aren't they the cutest... partners in crime?!

Bowling 101

We took Stone bowling... he really wanted to go with the IC students but it was too late at night.  So, we promised to take him and he never forgets so when he saw the bowling alley he asked if we could go now.  So we headed there Monday afternoon and we had a blast.

The nice stylish rental shoes.
Stone quickly learned how to hold the ball correctly though he did not use the correct form to throw it.
Daddy teaching Stone how to throw it... Swing your arm and release or in this case swing your arm then push the ball with two hands :)!!
Watching the ball make it way down the lane... it was a little slow at times.
Patiently waiting to see how many pins it will knock down.
Woo Hoo!  Seven pins down!
Here is the score after the 8th frame...
Stone and Mommy tied and Daddy Rockin'!!
FYI- It was so much fun but bowling is no longer a cheap alternative it is a bit pricey!

Who is it?

Auntie Holly and Stone, of course.

We love having Holly here in Oklahoma... Stone adores her and loves that she plays with him and takes him on daytime play dates!  It is truly a blessing from God to have such great friends!

A Bear Named Rock

We took Stone to Build-A-Bear Workshop on the Saturday before NYC.  We had some time to waste while waiting for the IC students to finish shopping and I thought Stone would enjoy it.

Here is Stone with the outer shell of the bear he chose.  He was so excited to try this out.
Stone is getting ready to give his bear a heart; but not before he has to give it all the heart needs, love, listening ears, compassion.  (I have to say this part was so darling.)
Watching his bear get all the stuffing and be brought to "life".
Bear is ready to be cuddled.
Stone name bear, Rock and chose a fun costume for him.  Rock is ready to go home with Stone.
Stone trying out the Batman costume on Rock.

Rock went all the way to New York City with us and he even got a few t-shirts from Grandma.  I am sure Rock and Stone will have many adventures together!
