Day 34- A Little Tailgating Fun

Yesterday, we decided to head to Mitch Park to see a lighted-Kite show.  We arrived a little early to enjoy a McDonalds picnic and play.

You can see the kites in the background... it was really cool they would go all  over the place in unison.  It was a really neat how they flew them but as you can see Stone enjoyed playing on the equipment more!

I enjoyed watching the sunset...the sky in Oklahoma is so amazing!
Waiting in the back of the van for the show to start...
The kites were pretty cool but I think maybe we have been spoiled living in Japan because Lj and I both had different expectations of what a lighted- kite festival was.

Day 33- Ready, Set, GO....

SWIMMING!

After a trip to Target and Old Navy, Stone is even more ready to go swimming... he just had to have goggles... Mom wanted the cute green flip-flops that were $1.00 and Dad loved the protective shirt idea!

Day 32- Master at work...

Stone loves to cut... give him a pair of scissors and he will be content for hours so when he found paper and scissors in a craft room at the Omniplex... he was oh so happy!

Day 31- I DID IT!

Stone had an "I DID IT" day the other day... he dressed himself with no help from Mom.   He has put on his own pants and stuff by himself for a while now but usually I pick out the clothes... this time he picked out the clothes... a onsie that is size 18 months, the green socks and the shorts.  By the look on his face he was so proud he did it.  I guess I will have to start making sure everything in his closet matches!
Stone got this fun puzzle for his birthday from the Rossers. He loves to do it but always wants us to "help" him.  But this day I was doing laundry and told him i would be there in a minute by time I got back he had finished the puzzle all by himself.  He was so happy when he realized he could do it alone...

Day 30- Arbuckle Mountains

A few weeks ago Lj took his students on the weekly field trip to the Wichita Mountains.  Of course I could not pass up opportunity to see another great part of Oklahoma so Stone and I tagged along!  We enjoyed the car ride... Stone was pretty happy the whole time!
Stone on top of the mountian... Lj got over his fear and let us go out on the rocks!
Daddy and Son
Mommy and Stone
Maybe there will be some rock climbing in his future... no fear of heights yet!
The flowers blooming on top of the mountain were so pretty!
After standing on top of the mountain we headed to the wildlife center... very cool hands-on part for Stone to touch all the antlers and fur... so FUN!
We got to see some longhorns and Elk/ bison wandering... they were really close to the car.

After a busy day we stopped in Meers to enjoy a famous Meers Burger... made from Longhorn beef... it was tasty but I much preferred the peach cobbler for dessert.
It was great to see another part of Oklahoma... and it was nice to see a part that was not flat!

Day 29- Family FUN Night

Each year OC hosts family fun night in conjunction with Memorial Roads VBS.  There are free pony rides, moon bounces, slides and food...

Stone loves to ride the ponies so that is what he is drawn to first and foremost.
This year they had a teeny tiny petting zoo... Stone loved petting Bugsy.

Stone tends to avoid all inflatables at all costs... we asked him at dinner if he wanted to try them with his little friends... "No"... then we asked if he wanted to do it with Reiko and he said, "Yes"!  So off we went to the big slide...

He had so much fun and there was no turning back... he even went on the inflatables by himself.

Of course the best thing about attending events like this is catching up with friends.  Here is JP and Stone... buds from Sonshine School.

Day 28- I am a Lion!

Stone wanted to have his face painted as a lion at the omniplex the other day... he is so funny... when I asked him what he wanted he hummed and hawed a while then decided matter of factly he wanted to be a lion!  It was a sad night to have his face washed!

Day 27- There's a snake in my boot!

Charity got a bunch of ABL (already been loved) Toy Story toys from a friend... so she and Freedom shared the wealth and sent a few "new" toys to Stone.

Stone loves Woody but his one had some problems with his voice box... but a little friendly surgery from Daddy and it is just like new.

Day 26.5 - The 'Burbs

Driving around the little piece of heaven we call home, Kari and I often get a kick out of the names of the suburban housing additions. Here are a few examples...

Magnolia Plantation
Mission Springs
Olde North Village
Rock Creek Estates
Smoking Oaks
Faircloud
Woody Creek

Who comes up with these? I really think they need to rename some of them to be a bit more truthful, though. Don’t you? Let’s try with the one’s above...

White People Only Plateau = Magnolia Plantation
No Need For Church Estates = Mission Springs
Not Been East of the Mississippi Ever Gardens = Olde North Village
Sucks When It Rains Pointe = Rock Creek Estates
Arson or Foreclosure Estates = Smoking Oaks
Ain’t an Ounce of Indian Blood in Us Park = Faicloud
Viagra Heights = Wood Creek

Peace Out!

Day 26- Our Little Fish

One benefit of living in an apartment is the pool!  Stone has quickly warmed up to the idea of swimming and asks at least a few times a day if we can go swimming.  We spent a good part of the evening  swimming today... Lj's choice since it is Father's Day!

Day 25- Communication at its best!

Lj always talks about how the world is getting smaller... I would have to agree!  Air travel and internet has pretty much cut any barriers that distance would place on a relationship.

Last night, Stone and I got to skype with Yumiko and Yamato.  Stone and Yamato loved talking to each other and showing their favorite things.  Yamato spoke English and Stone got to try out his Nihongo!   Stone asked to talk to Yamato as soon as he woke up today!  We will have to schedule another "date".... SOON.

Day 24- KUNG FUUUUU!

Stone has been waiting so patiently to see Kung Fu Panda.  We decided to take him Wednesday evening... he loved the movie and sat quietly watching the movie the whole time.  It was one of the better children's movies... it made me a little homesick for Asia.

After the movie we had to try out our own kung fu kicks!

Day 23- Anpan Man Dance!

Our house is overrun with Anpan Man stuff... I spent way too much on fun Anpan Man stuff when we were in Japan in March... my argument is... watching and listening to it will help his Japanese.

I caught him doing this dance one day... he knows it step by step... way too cute!

Day 22- Ice Cream

Is there anything better than enjoying an ice cream cone on a hot summer day?
Stone says; "no!"... and he got to enjoy his first vanilla soft serve cone of the summer at the zoo the other day... talk about messy in the Oklahoma heat.

Day 21- A Day at the Zoo

We headed to the zoo last weekend to celebrate Elijah's 5th birthday!  The weather was wonderful... the nice Oklahoma wind kept it nice and breezy.

Stone and the birthday boy, Elijah, in front of the Centennial Train!
Ready for our ride on the train... I love this train... it is a quick little trip but fun for the boys.  Elijah was not so keen on the loud whistle so he kept his ear covered the whole time!
After the ride we headed out to see some of the animals... of course Stone's favorite part of the zoo is all the bronze statues to climb on and the water sprayers!
After a wonderful lunch, we headed to the carousal.  Stone chose the panda... he is in love with movie trailer for Kung Fu Panda.
